The Voices and Brass Concert at the Deco Theatre Northampton – An open letter from our Musical Director.

We properly honoured our recently, and suddenly departed special friend of the choir, Maggie Cross at the Northampton Deco last night with NMVC, Virtuosi GUS and Faryl Smith. I was over the moon with the quality of the whole concert and feel immensely proud to have been a part of it. I know Phil Goalby appreciated the dedication of the concert and The Rose with Faryl was very beautiful.  The choir gave their all – and did a cracking job, singing their hearts out – I’m proud of each and every one of the boys. What a journey we are on together! Lots more to come here with a whole host of new music coming for next year. Lots of new challenges ahead but I know the choir is up for all of them.  Virtuosi GUS were simply a delight to direct with some really special musical moments created together. I’ll remember the Benedictus and soloist David Daws playing for the rest of my days. So deeply moving. Young Thomas Fountain stole the show with a virtuosic display and taking a bow on behalf of himself and James Fountain (touching moment that). A high moment for sure. I’d definitely love to do more music making some time with this talented Brass Band one day.  Faryl is an even better singer than she was 2 years ago at our previous concert. Fantastic to hear her developing musically. Such lovely sweet tones. The voice of an Angel. I’m keen to do more with her when we can.  A Deeply satisfied Musical Director : from...

Standing room only in Roade

NMVC filled the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Roade in so many ways on Saturday evening. The stalls were packed to hear the choir perform a varied selection of songs at a concert organised by the church Bell Team to raise money for the Bell Rope Guide Appeal. The evening was a great success with a standing ovation for the choir and award winning Colombian pianist Kevin Satizabal, who performed a number of delightful solo pieces to contrast the choir in a varied programme of music. The event raised over £1,150 for the appeal which will go a long way to help achieve the appeal target of £3,500. NMVC are now looking ahead to their tour to Exeter next week when they will be performing at the Cathedrals in both Bristol and Exeter, and then at Holy Trinity Church Exmouth, with Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir, to raise funds for local Rotary Charities and then at Powderham Church, Exeter with a group of ladies ‘Yours in Harmony’ in aid of the NSPCC. Dates and venues are all available on the NMVC Website...
