Friends and Relatives of the Choir (The Team) Every choir member needs some support when the choir sings locally or goes on tour or to a distant event. We are very fortunate to have an active support team for the choir. They organise social events that bond the choir together and raise funds for the choir. They assist in so many ways and ensure that our concerts are well organised and run smoothly. How do I book tickets for concerts?Please go to the concert diary here and click on the Concert you are wishing to attend. Who do I contact to join The Choir?Please go to the Contact page here and email or telephone Mike Davis. What is the process of joining the choir?There is an initial assessment of your voice to determine which section you will join 1st Tenor, 2nd Tenor, Baritone or Bass. When on board you will join as a probationer which allows you to attend rehearsals to join the process of learning new songs and to 'get the feel' of things. You can elect to have a 'voice check' with the MD at anytime within the first 6 months. This voice check confirms suitability and also entry into the choir. On passing the voice check and joining the choir you will be encouraged to sing in concerts for up to a year with a music folder to help you acquire the material without pressure. After 12 months you will be expected to sing without a music folder. What does it cost to become a Choir Member?After the Probation period the annual Subs are circa £120 this can be paid in two parts of £60 Jan & July or by a monthly Standing Order of £10. Welcome to Practice NightWe practice every Tuesday at 7.30 pm in the Church Rooms of Kingsley Park Methodist Church, Northampton, NN2 7HG. You are most welcome to visit between 7.30 pm and 9.30 pm to see us, to hear us and to discuss your interest in the Choir. HistoryThe Choir was formed in 1946 and was originally known as the “ Northampton Men’s Own Male Voice Choir”. The Choir’s name was changed in 1980 when we were granted the privilege of wearing the Northampton Coat of Arms badge in recognition of the Choir’s fund raising for local charities. EnjoymentWe are a Choir of like-minded singers who enjoy the friendship of our fellow Choir members and who sing for pleasure and who strive at all times to give the best possible performance. We enjoy extending our knowledge of music and choral singing thereby enhancing the quality of our performance. We enjoy the thrill of singing to large audiences, frequently in the surroundings of magnificent buildings. On some occasions we sing with other choirs or in the company of massed choirs. Charities and the CommunityOur aims as a Choir are to perform in Concert, bring pleasure to our audience, and to raise funds in support of Charities and the Community.
