Super evening at St Mary the Virgin, Welford last night. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. A delightful selection of well chosen melodies and sung to an excellent standard.
Thank you for all the hard work you put it, it really pays off.
Hi all,
Just wanted to say that I saw you in Saundersfoot this weekend, that is me and my two tiny dogs, and despite the weather, I loved every moment.
Thank you, really made my afternoon.
Thanks for your feedback Linda. So pleased you enjoyed the afternoon. It was a pleasure for us to sing on the Quay, such a good location. We are planning to return some day for a Concert in Tenby and/or Saundersfoot.
The “Proms “concert was a triumph. Great choir ,great band, great music for a sellout audience. Well done everyone. Thanks for a great evening.
We would like to say what a great tour it was to Kent over weekend of 13/14/15 September and you could not have organised the weather any better!. Great singing as always by everyone, good company and so very well organised once again by David Walsh. Thank you very much for inviting us and we look forward to hearing and seeing you all next Saturday, 28th, at the Annual concert.
Pat & Peter Hillman, Derbyshire
The lat time I saw NMVC was the Autumn Concert in 2018, and as usual, I was impressed with your performance. At the recent Christchurch concert however, I was “blown away” as the popular saying goes. The improvement to the next level was quite remarkable. As a full blown lover of Welsh MVC’s, I always thought their was a little depth missing, but not any more. The arrangements and nuances of the performance were excellent, and the depth from the whole choir was sublime. What pleased me more than anything, was your ability to suplly the full bodied rousing finale that some pieces must have. I hesitate to use the word breathtaking, but it was. You went through an excellent range of songs, and the whole show was tremendously entertaining. Northampton should be proud to have a great bunch of singers who are prepared to dedicate so much time , skill and effort for us all. Gentlemen, you were magnificent, and really appreciated by your fans. Thank you for a terrific evening.
Another excellent concert, with the usual well chosen variety of music, from your wide repertoire.
It was a very well organised evening, sharing the music between the choir and the guest artists, Carol and Richard.
And yet again money was raised for a very good cause.
The guest Musical Director, Andrew Howes, brought just the right tone and atmosphere to the evening.
Great to be able to listen to you singing and say hello at Franklin’s Gardens last night. Not only that but your excellent half time singing must have inspired Northampton Saints to bag the bonus point victory against Exeter Chiefs!
Come on you Saints and Happy New Year to all!
Robin and Margaret Humpage
A truly wonderful night at the NMVC annual shows at Cripps Theatre. I have now been watching these perform from April and each time it just gets better, if you want to get the ” feel good factor” watching this choir is a must, guess i am a bit biased as my hubby performs in it but it has made me also realise what a magical gift music can bring, well done to Stephen and his team , keep up the good work it is appreciated
Looking forward to seeing the choir for the first time this coming Saturday
Hilly & Jochem van der Werff, Netherlands
My wife and I were fortunate to visit Lincoln cathedral while your choir were singing ” You are so beautiful to me ” . The song went straight to our hearts and gave such a warm feeling by the way the choir sang it . It was very moving.
By a stroke of luck ( again ) we happened to be in the same hotel where the members were having their meal. They asked us to join them . The hospitality and and warm welcome then was the highlight of our holiday in the UK.
Well done and thank you. An excellent performance in the cathedral and in the Hotel.
Our best wishes
Lincoln weekend Tour, September 14-16
Four wonderful concerts with a particularly spectacular one in Lincoln Cathedral. Many congratulations to you all.
The choir is certainly going onward and upward. Look forward to hearing and seeing you all again at the Annual Concert on October 20th.
Wow! What an amazing night at spinner hill NSG theatre 14th April. I was so very proud of my dad who performed in the prostate choir! It was professional, funny and focused to the charity that we supported. Totally brilliant I loved every minute and grandkids too. From a very proud daughter x
Last Friday and Sunday I had the opportunity to listen to your concerts you have given in Ober-Erlenbach on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of Liederkranz Germania. It was a very great pleasure for me. I was totally impressed of your perfect performance.
Congratulations!
After your very successful visit in Germany I have to state that:
a) until 29 th September 2017 I was the greatest fan of NMVC in Germany,
b) after that date I have to found a fan club whith at least one hundred enthusiastic fresh German members!
We enjoyed the time we spent with you so much and we are so greatful that you made this possible!
All the best to you.
See you next year!
Let’s fix the date for 2019 when the Marburg choir intents to visit you (including some additional singers from other choirs).
Best wishes,
Norbert

I attended the concert a t The Cripps theatre last night .What a super evening it was . Beautiful music beautifully sung .
The youth Big Band were amazing and the impromptu performance by James was wonderful .
Thank you for a lovely evening .
A message to say how lovely it was to join you all on the tour to Liverpool. The concert in the Anglican cathedral and the concert in Southport showed off the choirs quality and ability to perform equally well in different venues. The tour was once again very well organised by David Walsh and thanks to him for all his efforts and to any others involved as well. We really enjoyed Liverpool and will definitely be going back to see everything we didn’t get to see on this visit.
Thank you all for your friendship and look forward to hearing and seeing you all on 29th October.
Just a short note to thank you so much for your performance at the Umbrella Fair this year. You were such a fantastic act on the stage this year showing such dedication, warmth, and technical mastery to your performance. Training as a professional singer myself with my teacher at the Royal Academy of Music, I was so impressed with your remarkable diction and pitch control which was held across your entire programme (particularly noticeable in the item where you sang unaccompanied for a period and then were joined by the piano). Your programme was so accessible and diverse, subsequently attracting such a large volume of people to the tent. You are such a fantastic ensemble to be resident here in Northampton and I was so very honoured to have you perform at our event this year.
I wish you all the best for your continuing performances and hope to see you at the Umbrella Fair again soon.
All the best
Jessica Smith
Jazz and Classical Stage Coordinator 2016
I would like to thank the choir for their performance at Ian and Fiona’s wedding yesterday. We had so many lovely comments about the choir from our family and friends at the wedding, You added a special touch to a magical day for us all.
May I offer you a huge vote of thanks for the wonderful evening you provided in our little church here in Thornby. As with so many small communities, the upkeep of churches is always difficult. You gave us an evening which many of the people who were there still talk about. We raised a magnificent £1370.00 which will certainly help our church. So to Stephen, Andy and all the singers, “Thank you” so much. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Thank you for making my dear friend Gail’s funeral so beautiful . You are Amazing singers. I can not express in words how amazing you all are..
Thank you for the nice evening in Holiday Inn Express…it was so wonderful singing together. Hope we will see us again sometime…
I was very happy to hear you sing l hope one day l will see you again
Two real highlights for me in Exeter – besides the concert of our choir Liederkranz Germania Ober-Erlenbach 1842 together with Exeter Children’s Orchestra in the Exeter Corn Exchnge on September 13, 2015 – were for me:
1 to listen to NMVC’s lunchtime concert in the Exeter Cathedral on September 12, 2015, – my favourite songs were “A Rose” (I sing it in a local male voice choir, in German), “Go Down Moses” (because of David Jay from the famous Northhampton suburb), “My lord what a morning” (also our repertoire), and Verdis Nabucco (we sang it in the Corn Exchange on day later, in Italian),
2 to listen / to join singing / to toast / to laugh / to have great fun in the evening the same day in the Hotel, where 12-13 people of my choir had a good time together with you guys. I was so pleased talking to Stephen Bell, Andy Poole, David Jay and the pleasant guy with the long beard – special greetings to him, please. The highlight of all was for me standing beside David Jay and singing together in tenor “My lord what a morning”!!!
Thank you all very much for the time we had together,
yours Norbert from Germany
I really enjoyed listening to you on this day and hope some day l will see you again. I was hoping to join up with you this weekend unfortunately l had an accident which stopped me from travelling so hope you have an enjoyable time meeting with NMVC regards Yvonne Bodily
Today (17.09.2015) we come at home!

15 Sept.
Congratulations on a really splendid tour to Exeter area. Your singing with Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir and Torquay Ladies Harmony Group were both very memorable occasions, as also was the singing in Bristol and Exeter Cathedrals. The unexpected joining with the German choir in the hotel crowned the whole tour.
All good wishes for future events and hope to hear you all again very soon.
Thankyou, Pat & Peter
Hello David
Firstly could you thank all of NMVC for putting on such a wonderful concert in Roade Church last Saturday. The compliments have come in thick and fast with a very high appreciation and enjoyment level expressed. Pretty sure church will want another date for next year. I think you will be pleased to know that we have cleared £1197.00 which is now in the Rope Guides fund so we are now in the mid £2000, so target of £3500 now well in sight and money still coming in from other on going situations. However, thank you all very much. Give our best wishes to everyone and hope you all enjoyed visiting us.
Alan
Guys,
Great afternoon in Abington Park with a decent audience.
Lots of praise from people there who thoroughly enjoyed our performance.
Bob G.
A belated email to say many congratulations on the superb concert at The Derngate Theatre on 2nd May.
The logistics of having so many choirs together are mindboggling but all the organisation certainly paid off.
Along with the brass band there were moments when the hairs on the back of the neck went up at the wonderful sounds!
We look forward to the next concert that we can get to.
Once again congratulations from Pat & Peter, Derbyshire.
Words fail me, but numbers don’t 10/10 – Fantastic.
Lorna
A marvellous night at the Derngate on the 2nd May. So much hard work must have gone into the production. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Pleased you enjoyed the evening Gill. Haven`t forgotten your recording David
Thanks David 🙂
2/4/15 What a fantastic night at the Derngate The sound of the massed choirs was awesome. Well done to everyone concerned. Almost wished I could have been with you. Thanks for a truly wonderful evening
Thank you so much for singing at my late father’s funeral on the 6th February. You all made the service very memorable and moving – many people commented. I am so glad you were able to come and make the occassion special; in memory of a very special man!
Hope to come and see you perform on the 2nd May,
Gill
Thank you so much for singing at our 27th December wedding in Lincolnshire. You were absolutely fantastic and everyone commented on how much they enjoyed your performances; you really added to the atmosphere of the day. Thank you for travelling such a long way to make our day so special. Peter & Rachel Clark.
Well done Stephen and the NMVC for a brilliant concert at All Saints Church Kettering on Nov 22nd.
A truly wonderful performance with an enjoyable choice of music – especially Les Mis and The Rose.
Thank you all very much and please come back to our area again soon.
All Saints Church Kettering
To all members of the Northampton Male Voice Choir and the Barbershop Quartet. A truly magnificent evening – the acoustics were perfect – the singing was unbelievable, the humour spot on and our clavinova played by Andy Poole was a delight to hear. I don’t know how Stephen Bell manages to keep you all under control! A massive “Thank You” from us all here at All Saints. A very smart, polished and professional evening.
Our bell tower fund has increased substantially
Angela Brett (Churchwarden)
From Peter Ward, Musical Director, Wigston & District Male Voice Choir.
Just a note to extend my sincere personal thanks and those of W&DMVC for your most valued contribution to the “Magic of Male Voice” concert at Rugby School.
The massed choir sound was magnificent and this was in no little way due to the commitment of Northampton MVC choristers in both rehearsal and performance and to the preparatory work put in by both your Musical Director (Stephen Bell) and Accompanist (Andy Poole).
We very much appreciate this and look forward to being able to repay in similar style at the Derngate concert (2nd May Northampton) next year.
Reports suggest that the concert was enjoyed by choristers and audience alike – this is, of course, what we set out to achieve! On the financial front we still have monies to come In and bills to pay but early indications are that a sum approaching £5,000 will have been raised for “Help for Heroes”.
Finally, it was great to have a contingent from NMVC join us at the “afterglow”. We certainly enjoyed the “cabaret” of the Pelenna Valley boys – which stretched into the early hours of the morning – and hope this was your experience.
Please extend the thanks and good wishes from all at W&DMVC to our fellow choristers and the music team at NMVC.
Yours sincerely
Peter
Dear David (Walsh) and members of the NMVC.
I am writing to thank Northampton Male Voice Choir and your Musical Director, Stephen Bell for the successful concert you gave in aid of Spencer Contact on Saturday evening. From the many positive comments I received at the end of the evening, I can say that all those present enjoyed the varied programme, which, as ever, was sung to a high standard. On a personal note, I was delighted that you ended the concert with one of my favourite Welsh Hymns! Thank you for arranging a soloist for the evening, Jessica Anslow, whose performance contrasted perfectly with the choir.
You will be pleased to hear that we made a profit of £585 from the concert. This will go into supporting our work helping those living in poverty in Northampton and the surrounding villages with the provision of furniture and essential household items.
Yours sincerely
Hugh Jones – General Manager – Spencer Contact.
Only one word for last night’s concert at Rugby School – magnificent.
Concert at Temple Speech Room Rugby School 25th October 2014
What a Venue. What an event – 5 choirs, piped organ, grand piano and a brass sextet.
What a performance – The Battle Song of The Republic with the whole ensemble performing was magnificent.
You Guys really are going places.
Can’t wait for the next concert.
What a performance last night at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church I have never heard you sing better. What a difference the extra voices make. The dynamics , power and sensitivity they were all there .Well done gents. Looking forward to the next time
Hi there
I like that the new practice music in the members section of the website is prefixed with the number from the sheet music.
Joe
May I say that it was a ral pleasure to see you all performing at Christ Church, Northampton recently. Compared with last year, when I thought you were good to listen to, this year is a revelation.
More power, better timing, greater depth and excellent arrangements: what more could we ask for. Gentlemen, keep progressing like this and the Boyo’s in the Valleys will have to watch out !
See you at Mount Pleasant.
Guys you were fantastic last night at Christ Church, the additions to the repertoire are brilliant.
Your overall performance was stunning thanks for a truly glorious evening.
Anita
I would like to congratulate the NMVC on the wonderful performance at the WW1 concert at Holy Sepulchre with the Northampton Concert Band.
The Band was brilliant and the Choir was fantastic.
I look forward to seeing you again at Christchurch on 20th September.
Anita
I had the pleasure of attending the Newport Pagnell Rotary Club Charity Concert where we were treated to two eclectic sessions from the Northampton Male Voice Choir and 2 sessions from the brilliant Lincoln Noel. If you enjoy music and like being entertained then I would definitely book yourself onto the next concert, you will not be disappointed.
James
Love the new website chaps!
