We properly honoured our recently, and suddenly departed special friend of the choir, Maggie Cross at the Northampton Deco last night with NMVC, Virtuosi GUS and Faryl Smith. I was over the moon with the quality of the whole concert and feel immensely proud to have been a part of it. I know Phil Goalby appreciated the dedication of the concert and The Rose with Faryl was very beautiful.
The choir gave their all – and did a cracking job, singing their hearts out – I’m proud of each and every one of the boys. What a journey we are on together! Lots more to come here with a whole host of new music coming for next year. Lots of new challenges ahead but I know the choir is up for all of them.
Virtuosi GUS were simply a delight to direct with some really special musical moments created together. I’ll remember the Benedictus and soloist David Daws playing for the rest of my days. So deeply moving. Young Thomas Fountain stole the show with a virtuosic display and taking a bow on behalf of himself and James Fountain (touching moment that). A high moment for sure. I’d definitely love to do more music making some time with this talented Brass Band one day.
Faryl is an even better singer than she was 2 years ago at our previous concert. Fantastic to hear her developing musically. Such lovely sweet tones. The voice of an Angel. I’m keen to do more with her when we can.
A Deeply satisfied Musical Director : from Northampton.
